Thought for the Week:
Patience: All great achievements require time (Maya Angelou)
Patience: steadiness, endurance, or perseverance when performing a task.
We live in an age of instant gratification: box sets of television series to stream, an endless choice of music and literature available at the click of a button, computer games designed to provide a steady stream of gratifying, endorphin producing action. Patience can run in short supply when tasks become taxing and it is easier to switch to a different book, change the track or lose oneself in a television series. Perhaps we need to encourage our students to take a step back and appreciate what the small, incremental steps of progress are leading towards so they can appreciate the value of patience, steadiness and perseverance and what these qualities can bring.
