In September 2013 the Winton and Glenmoor Employability Scheme (WAGES) was established in order to ensure that all students were supported in becoming work ready. The scheme focuses on developing entrepreneurial and employability skills, and provides students with career guidance and support onto post-16 courses, apprenticeships and traineeships.
The scheme has developed successful partnerships with a number of local, national and international businesses, and further educational establishments. Students are involved in a number of different activities to improve their chances of succeeding in the workplace once they leave school.
It is essential that soft skills are being developed across all curriculum areas so that students understand the links between the subjects they are studying and the importance of that subject in relation to their future careers.
