Glenmoor & Winton Library

Welcome

We are really proud to share our passion for books with all of our staff and students. Our new library features more than 4500 individual titles, ranging from quick reads for hesitant readers, to beloved classics and non-fiction titles. We are adding to our library constantly and love to interact with our students to ensure we are stocking the library with books that excite and inspire young people. As a result of the pandemic we launched our online library service which allows staff and students to browse and borrow books from the comfort of their own home, a feature which has been embraced by staff and students alike. September 2021 also saw the launch of our new library space in a more central and easily accessible location. We are very excited to have finally launched our new library and look forward to sharing this space with our students.

Yours Sincerely

The Library Team

FAQs

  • Where is the library located?

The Glenmoor & Winton Library is located in the Winton Academy site - Winton Lower 06.

  • When can the library be accessed?

During lesson times the library is utilised by our fantastic learning coaches, as a quiet and inspiring space for students. Students can borrow books at lunchtime as well as reading or completing homework if required.

Please note that the library is not currently open to students on Monday lunchtime, as this is booked for drop-in careers guidance with our careers coach.

The opening times for the library are Tuesday-Friday at lunchtime.

  • How do students borrow books?

All staff and students have been set up with a library account. Simply visit https://libib.com/u/gandw This can be viewed on mobile phones or on desktop computers. If using the site for the first time, click 'Forgot Password' then type in the student's school email address. This will send a temporary password to the student's school email address, which can be accessed at https://outlook.office.com.

If students have forgotten how to log in to their Office account then please email smhw@glenmoorandwinton.org.uk for a password reset.

Once students log in they can borrow up to 3 books at a time. Please see the guidance below. Once a book loan has been approved by the library team it will be delivered to the student during class.

Students can also borrow books at lunchtime from the library in WL06.

  • How many students can use the library?

As a result of guidelines and restrictions on the space available, we currently can accept no more than 12-15 students in the space at any one time. Any students not utilising the space in an appropriate manner will be asked to leave.

    Current lending rules as follows:

    • Books can initially be borrowed for 14* days. Students can extend this by a further 7 days by logging in to https://libib.com/u/gandw and renewing the book on their patron page.
    • Extensions can be requested beyond the 21 day time period by emailing office@glenmoorandwinton.org.uk.
    • Popular books such as manga may be requested to be returned sooner if many students are requesting the same book
    • DVDs can be borrowed for 7 days.

*Manga can only be borrowed for 7 days due to its popularity.

  • How do students return books?

Books can be dropped off at the following locations during the school day:

    • Glenmoor Lower 8 (Admin office)

  • Are there any fines?

If a student consistently fails to return books we will restrict their ability to borrow from the library. We make a note of any books that are already in poor condition, to ensure that students are not unfairly charged for a replacement.
